Matthew Koehler

In 2013, Matthew joined Mustard Seed Financial, drawn by Brian Burks' unwavering dedication to the fiduciary standard, the Registered Investment Advisor business model, and a steadfast commitment to prioritizing the client's best interests. Over the years, Matt has worked tirelessly as an Investment Advisor and as a junior partner to enhance every facet of the firm, with a singular focus on supporting our valued clients.

Prior to Mustard Seed Financial, Matt earned a degree in business management from Boise State University. He began his career the financial world at Mass Mutual, followed by Morgan Stanley and then an independent options-trading firm. It was during this professional journey that he came to appreciate the ethical clarity of being a fiduciary, which he found best aligned with his values.

A Houston native, Matt's childhood visits to Idaho to visit family left an indelible mark. After serving in the Navy as an engineer in the Nuclear Reactor Department aboard the USS John C. Stennis, he relocated to Boise to pursue his education at BSU and start a family.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Matt cherishes moments spent with his wife, Ashley, and their two sons, Brecken and Peyton. Together, they embark on adventures camping, fishing and rafting down rivers, hiking and skiing through Idaho mountains, and training/coaching in the martial art of jiu-jitsu.
